New and prospective laser users will learn how CO2 lasers operate and how CO2 laser light interacts with tissue. Laser physics, CO2 laser-tissue interaction, equipment and safety, and practice implementation will be covered from a practical, practitioner’s perspective. In the lab session participants will learn to operate a CO2 laser and practice performing everyday laser techniques on tissue specimens. Exercises will demonstrate laser capabilities and techniques, and opportunity to do common clinical applications will be included. Multi-media reference materials will be given to each attendee. Advanced Course- August 15, 2010 Designed for the experienced CO2 small animal laser surgeon, this course is a must for those who want to move beyond performing only elective and routine surgeries with their CO2 laser. It can be a "stand alone" course for CO2 laser surgeons well grounded in the basics. It is also a valuable second day addition to the Basic Course. The Basic course is a pre-requisite for the Advanced course, or if you have used a waveguide laser actively for a year or more that is a suitable pre-requisite for taking the Advanced course. Beginners are encouraged to take both the Basic and Advanced. Advanced techniques and procedures will be demonstrated in slide and video format, and then attendees will have opportunity to practice techniques and perform procedures on cadaver specimens under the guidance of accomplished laser surgeons. Marketing and ways to increase CO2 laser revenue will be discussed and helpful tips will be given to make laser equipment easier to use every day. Multimedia reference material will be given to each attendee.
